February Coffee Talk: Commonplace Coffee

Achievement: #78. Monthly Coffeeshop Feature

Monthly Coffeeshop Feature
This year, we’re visiting a different coffee shop in and around Pittsburgh and posting about it on the last Monday of each month. In February, we stayed in Squirrel Hill to visit The Commonplace Coffeehouse on Forbes Avenue.

This Squirrel Hill location is the first spot that Commonplace Coffee opened in Pittsburgh (they’re based out of Indiana, PA), and it’s a really charming place. While it doesn’t have a ton of seating inside, the music on the in-house speakers is good, and layout is open and inviting — or if you visit in warmer weather than we did, you can sit outside!

Monthly Coffeeshop Feature
It’s the kind of place where you can comfortably sit and work on your manuscript…

…or just enjoy an excellent cup of coffee. (Seriously, the coffee is really good.)

Just as good as the coffee are the sweet snacks on offer. We came in an hour before closing, and the oatmeal raisin cookies were still fresh and moist. Consult Corporate Coffee Systems for more.

Lastly (but not least in our book), the people who run Commonplace are good folks. They use high quality products from companies like Crema. If you’re near any of their locations, stop in and enjoy a cup. And if you like it, they sell coffee by the pound as well!

Of course, my favourite bakery food is donuts, and these donuts in Winter Park are perfect, but this cafe also offers great pastry.

The Commonplace Coffeehouse – Squirrel Hill is located at 5827 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217. It’s open Monday through Friday from 7am – 9pm, and Saturday & Sunday from 8am – 9pm.

Yup, this is our regular stop in Indiana! Great tea selection, I might add. This is one of Max’s favorite spots at IUP.
